Salmon Run draws 350

More than 350 runners and walkers hit the trails along the Deschutes River in Bend on Saturday for the 13th annual Salmon Run, and winners included Paul Parsons of Bend, who placed first overall in the 10-kilometer race by nearly 2> minutes.
Parsons’ time was 37 minutes, 34.1 seconds. Finishing second was Petar Kristo of Bend with a time of 40:03.1. Ron Deems, also of Bend, was third in 40:08.2.

In the women’s division of the 10K race, Siobhan Cooper of Sisters took top honors with a time of 43:16.8. Second was Laura Cooper of Bend, in 44:58.8, and third was Karly Nash of Bend, in 45:13.8.
In the 5-kilometer event, Bend’s Marshall Greene placed first in 17:40.3. He was followed across the finish line by Jim Bendis, also of Bend, in 18:15.5. Third place in the men’s division went to Rocco Villano of Bend, with a time of 19:39.9.
Sarah Raitter of Bend placed third overall in the 5K race and first in the women’s division with a time of 18:45.0. Second among the women was Kelan Stanfill of Bend, in 22:19.1, and Bend’s Kate Cueno was third in 22:53.7.
The Salmon Run is a benefit for the Central Oregon Environmental Center, and proceeds help fund grants for river restoration and native species.
