Dennis Lane Sampels of Bend died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 76.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 Saturday at the River Woods Church in Bend.

Mr. Sampels was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Bend to Howard and Hazel (Dugger) Sampels. He attended grade school at Brooks-Scanlon Camp 4 near Fox Butte. He graduated from Bend High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Marlene Alexander on Aug. 25, 1968, in Bend.

Mr. Sampels owned a construction business for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, David, Steven, Scott and Kevin; a brother, John; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
