One left critically injured in 3-vehicle crash

A three-vehicle accident at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 97 near Sunriver at milepost 157 resulted in one person in critical condition.
According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Zachery Holotta, 18, of La Pine, was driving southbound on Highway 97 when his vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane and first struck a northbound vehicle driven by Elizabeth Foster, 48, of Walla Walla, Wash., and caused minor damage. Holotta’s vehicle then struck another northbound vehicle driven by Alan Ritchey, 61, of Los Angeles, causing severe damage to both vehicles, a news release stated.
Holotta, Ritchey and his son Matthew Ritchey, 20, sustained minor injuries, according to the release.
Ritchey’s wife and passenger Susan Ritchey, 55, was taken to St. Charles Medical Center-Bend, where she was listed in critical condition Tuesday night, according to a house supervisor.
The highway was closed for about 30 minutes, according to the release. The accident was under investigation Tuesday night.
