It’s opening day at Bachelor

Ski season is here.
Mount Bachelor is opening four lifts and 13 runs today at 9 a.m., as well as the 7-kilometer cross-country ski trail. The West Village and Sunrise lodges are open for food service.

Chris Johnston, Mount Bachelor communications manager, said Monday the mountain has an 11-inch snow base. There is a chance of snow Wednesday night, and snow is expected late Thanksgiving Day and on Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Pendleton.
The ski and snowboard school at Mount Bachelor opens Thursday, as does the day-care center at the West Village lodge.
Sunrise Rentals and Ski and Sport open Friday, as well as the Snowblast Tubing Park, which is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
The Super Shuttle heading up the mountain will depart from the Bend Park-n-Ride on the corner of Simpson and Colorado avenues at 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., and the Super Shuttle to town will depart the mountain at 10:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 2 p.m., according to Mt. Bachelor’s Web site. The shuttle is $5 each way.
Mount Bachelor officials remind skiers and snowboarders to stay on open runs and watch for unmarked obstacles. Hoodoo Mountain Resort plans to open in December.
