EUGENE – Sisters advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 3A state championship volleyball tournament on Friday by going 2-1 in pool play action.

Sisters, which entered the tournament as the co-No. 8-ranked team in the state, won two of three matches in Pool 4 of the 16-team tournament at Lane Community College in Eugene. The Outlaws opened the tournament by defeating No. 4-ranked La Grande (25-21, 16-25, 16-14) and unranked Rainier (25-15, 25-20), but lost to co-No. 8 Phoenix (28-30, 25-20, 15-2) late on Friday night.

Sisters and Phoenix advanced from Pool 4 to the eight-team championship quarterfinals, which begin this morning at 9 o’clock. Sisters will play at least one additional match at 2:30 p.m.

The Outlaws will face Estacada today at 10:30 a.m.
