Locals to play in summer all-star series

Five athletes from Central Oregon have been selected to play in the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association’s annual boys high school all-star summer basketball series.

Redmond High seniors Maarty Leunen and Matt McGowan will be joined by Mark Carollo of Hermiston on the 12-man State team for the 4A all-star series. The team will be coached by Rick Havercroft of state-champion South Salem and Bill Cowell of Grants Pass.

Madras High seniors Dominique Easterling and Joey McConnell are part of the 12-player roster for the West team for the 3A all-star series. Chris Roche of Wilsonville and Kevin Dixon of Phoenix will coach the 3A West squad.

Nate Lewis, a senior from Culver High, is on the East team for the 2A all-star series. The East will be coached by Ron Lathrop of Joseph and Forrest McGinnis of Heppner.

The OACA annual summer boys basketball all-star series will be June 18-19 at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City. The 2A all-stars play at 4 p.m. each day, followed by the 3A all-stars at 6 p.m. and 4A all-stars at 8 p.m.
