Online help for job seekers

Central Oregon job seekers can find job-hunting help through a free, online job bank called iMatchSkills at www.workinginoregon.com, which the Oregon Employment Department launched this week.

Most job seekers look for jobs based on the occupations they have held, or ”the resume approach,” according to the department. iMatchSkills matches applicants with jobs based on skills, not job titles.

Employers enter the skills needed to do a particular job, job seekers enter the skills they possess, and the computer matches them. The online application will allow employers to list job openings online, find qualified candidates and contact the job seeker directly in most cases.

The Oregon Employment Department is a partner in WorkSource Oregon, the state’s system of public statewide workforce agencies and training and education entities.
