GRESHAM – The Bend Elks swept the Aloha Knights in a Pacific International League doubleheader Saturday, 8-6 and 2-0, at Mount Hood Community College.

The Elks scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to overcome a 6-5 Aloha lead in the first game, with Chris Campos’ RBI double and Mike Terry’s two-run homer providing the winning runs. Terry also doubled earlier in the game, and Chris Kunda contributed a pair of hits for the Elks. Pitcher Ben Rowe picked up the win in long relief.

In the nightcap, an extra-inning affair, the Elks won a scoreless duel by plating two runs in the top of the 11th. A walk, Sean Kinney’s infield single and a sacrifice bunt put two runners in scoring position, and Campos followed with an RBI single. Terry’s sacrifice fly brought home the second run.

Four Elks pitchers combined for the shutout, and the Elks staved off Aloha rallies with three double plays – all with the bases loaded and all started by third baseman Matt Hibbits.

The Knights outhit the Elks 10-5 but stranded 15 runners.

The Elks are now 11-4 in PIL play and 16-10 overall. They return home to host the Eugene Blue Sox tonight at 6 p.m. at Vince Genna Stadium.
