Car crash kills Klamath Falls woman

A car accident three miles north of Chemult resulted in the death of a Klamath Falls woman on Sunday afternoon.
At about 2 p.m., Andrea Grijalva, 20, was riding in a 1998 Jeep Wrangler headed south on Highway 97.

Melody Pelton, 24, of Klamath Falls was driving the Jeep on the snow- and ice-covered highway when the vehicle slid across the center line and was struck on the passenger side.
Marty O’Doherty, 45, of Prineville was driving a 1999 Dodge pickup north when the truck collided with the Jeep.
According to the Oregon State Police, all persons involved were wearing seat belts. Grijalva was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pelton was transported to St. Charles Medical Center-Bend, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Neither O’Doherty nor his three passengers required hospitalization.
Grijalva’s family is traveling back from Mexico and could not be reached for comment.
