Darline Storer Heilman
Dec. 17, 1922 – Dec. 23, 2004
Darline Storer Heilman of Bend died Dec. 23 of a burst aneurysm. She was 82.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Church of the Nazarene, 1270 NE 27th, Bend. A reception will follow.
Mrs. Heilman was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Casper, Wyo., to Harvey and Elizabeth Storer. She graduated from high school in Blackfoot, Idaho. She married Ted Heilman on July 3, 1943, in Blackfoot.
Mrs. Heilman was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She was a secretary and then the president of St. Charles Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, singing, reading, cooking and volunteering at St. Charles.
Survivors include a son, Berkeley Holman of Bend; two daughters, Teddy Holman of Bend and Jerry Porter of Rochester, Minn.; a brother, Jerry Storer of Lewiston, Idaho; two sisters, Hazel Hibbard and Thelma Gurley, both of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Charles Medical Center Auxiliary or the Church of the Nazarene.

Wilma Jean Hicks
Jan. 12, 1942 – Dec. 25, 2004
Wilma Jean Hicks of Prineville died Saturday. She was 62.
No services are planned at this time.
Mrs. Hicks was born Jan. 12, 1942, in Tucson, Ariz., to William and Fay Keaver. She graduated from Medford High School. She married Carl Hicks Jr. in 1962, in Medford.
Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Raymond of Dayton, Ohio, Darryl of Yreka, Calif., and Steve of Medford; a daughter, Lori Millard of Central Point; a brother, Richard Keaver of Medford; a sister, Peggy Davis of Medford; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Harold Steven Horn
Feb. 27, 1925 – Dec. 24, 2004
Harold Steven Horn of Bend died Friday of natural causes. He was 79.
Private services will be held.
Mr. Horn was born Feb. 27, 1925, in Starfield, Mo. He married Loretta Horn on July 31, 1949, in Gower, Mo.
Mr. Horn served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a mechanic. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; a son, James of Stockton, Calif.; three daughters, Peggy Jones of Chandler, Ariz., Sherry Kent of Bend and Kathy Reasor of Manteca, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.

Dr. Robert Lee Mills
Feb. 27, 1921 – Dec. 24, 2004
Dr. Robert Lee Mills of Sisters died Friday of natural causes. He was 83.
Private services will be held.
Dr. Mills was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Scotts Bluff, Neb., to Benjamin and Amy (Cameron) Mills. He graduated from high school in Scotts Bluff. He received a medical degree from Stanford University. He served in the Navy after college.
Dr. Mills worked as a physician. He was a faculty member of the Stanford University Medical School in 1975 until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Stanford University Alumni and the Aston Martin Owners Club. He traveled to Vietnam three times, between 1972 and 1975, to help wounded children of the Vietnam War. He helped with the evacuation of Vietnamese medical staff and children during the airlift.
Dr. Mills enjoyed the outdoors, horses, hiking, kayaking, sculpting clay, woodcarving, dogs, working on his old car and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Catherine Moen of Sisters and Camra Mills of Sausalito, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister.

Mary Louise Marylou’ (Scurlock) Peden
Jan. 15, 1936 – Dec. 27, 2004
Mary Louise ”Marylou” (Scurlock) Peden of Bend died Monday of natural causes. She was 68.
Mrs. Peden was born Jan. 15, 1936, in Hollywood, Calif., to Ben and Olga Scurlock. She graduated from Redmond High School in 1954. She married Guinn D. Peden in 1953, in Bend.
Mrs. Peden was a homemaker. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Nativity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, camping, gardening, embroidery and the ocean.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Deb J. Gerke and Dollie M. Pitman; two brothers, Norman Scurlock and Roy Scurlock; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mildred V. Kelley

Mildren V. Kelley of Sisters died Saturday of natural causes. She was 80.

Mrs. Kelley was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Alderson, Okla., to Monroe S. and Dollie (Holt) Sudduth. She married William Kelley on April 17, 1965, in Pomona, Calif.
Mrs. Kelley was a homemaker. She enjoyed volunteering at the Terrebonne Elementary School, spinning wool at the High Desert Museum, dogs, cats, bingo, riding motorcycles and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of Sisters; six sons, William McCutchon of Los Angeles, Thomas Gibbins of Riverside, Calif., Russell Gibbins of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Ralph Gibbins of Riverside, Michael Gibbins of Portland and Gary Robles of Modesto, Calif.; a stepson, William Kelley of Placentia, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Terry Kelley of California and Linda Gilbertson of Chino, Calif.; numerous siblings in Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Randall Ray Atkins
Aug. 25, 1915 – Dec. 26, 2004
Randall Ray Atkins of Bend died Sunday. He was 89.
No services are planned at this time.
Mr. Atkins was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Walnut Tree, Ark., to Robert and Laura (Farr) Atkins. He married Mildred Hiscox on Dec. 21, 1940, in Detroit.
Mr. Atkins volunteered as an electrician for the Bend Metro Park and Recreation District.
He is survived by a son, Geoff Atkins of Bend; a daughter, Judy Van Hulzen of Bend; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife and several siblings.

Dorothy McFarland
Sept. 2, 1913 – Dec. 26, 2004
Dorothy McFarland of Redmond died Sunday of natural causes. She was 91.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Brookside House, 3550 SW Canal Blvd, Redmond.
Mrs. McFarland was born Sept. 2, 1913, in Stockton, Calif., to George and Delphine (Botzbach) Smith. She received a degree in teaching from Chico State College. She married Glenn McFarland on June 6, 1937, in Galt, Calif.
Mrs. McFarland worked as a school teacher in Galt until her retirement in 1975. She moved to Redmond in 1999. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading and crafts.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Armstrong of Walnut Creek, Calif., Nancy McGiluray of Redmond and Marilyn Johnson of the Republic of Panama; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Katherine Puckett

Mary Katherine Puckett of Prineville died Saturday. She was 91.
A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Prineville Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 31, at the Church of the Nazarene in Prineville; a graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
Mrs. Puckett was born on June 24, 1913, in Klamath Falls to Bert and Emma (Newburg) Stiles. She graduated from high school in Klamath Falls. She married Woodrow Puckett on June 9, 1934, in Klamath Falls.
Mrs. Puckett was a homemaker. She was affiliated with Church of the Nazarene in Prineville. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting, attending church and cooking.
Survivors include nine sons, Neil, David, Dan, Sam, Nathan, John, Steve, Ed and Woody; five daughters, Carolyn Chandler, Sarah Miller, Mary Hanes, Esther Niemela and Diane Marvin; three brothers, Bob Stiles, Bill Stiles and Don Stiles; a sister, Addy Chamberlin; and 40 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, two daughters, four brothers, one sister and two grandsons.

Finnis Edwin Pat’ Morris
Feb. 22, 1921 – Dec. 18, 2004
Finnis Edwin ”Pat” Morris of Bend died Dec. 18 of natural causes. He was 83.
A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 14, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland. A reception will follow at 1 p.m. at Mt. Scott Funeral Home, 4205 SE 59th Ave., Portland.
Mr. Morris was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Jenks, Okla., to Sylvester and Osce (Redick) Morris. He married Leona Jane Rudesill on Aug. 22, 1942, in Seaside.
Mr. Morris served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Army Corps of Engineers. He was the assistant Scout master of the Boy Scouts Association #277. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and camping with his family.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; three sons, John of Craig, Alaska, Robert of Olympia, Wash., and Howard of Bend; two daughters, Margaret Harto of Covington, Wash., and Alice Hinkley of Umatilla; three brothers, Jerry Cook of Dallas, Gene Cook of Vancouver, Wash., and Hugh Cook of Salem; a sister, Clara Flatt of Lakeside; 17 grandchildren; over 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
