Recreation/Manufacturing: Entre Prises is climbing

Entre Prises began in 1983 as the idea of Francois Savigny of France, who was an avid climber and industrial engineer. He noticed a small but growing group of climbers in the U.S and thought he could bring his ideas for molded climbing walls and hand-holds to a more mainstream consumer. He started Entre Prises U.S.A. in Bend in 1988 with a dozen employees. The company had been in managerial transition over 14 years and, in 1997, named Eric Meade president.
In 1999, Meade, Paul Pitini, the director of marketing and sales, and John Pinckney bought out the French ownership, making the U.S. division a separate entity from its French counterpart.
