Erma Blonquist Shepherd

Sept. 14, 1913 – March 28, 2003

Erma Blonquist Shepherd of Redmond died Friday of natural causes. She was 89.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. April 8 at Redmond Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Shepherd was born Sept. 14, 1913, in Coalville, Utah, to Alfred and May (Huffman) Blonquist.

She married Walter Shepherd on July 15, 1931, in Salt Lake City.

She was a homemaker and a master rose gardener.

Mrs. Shepherd was affiliated with the Garden Club of Redmond and Central Oregon Old Car Club.

Survivors include her two sons, Gilbert and Spencer, both of Redmond; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 14 siblings.

Avis Irene

Richardson

Sept. 5, 1924 – March 27, 2003

Avis Irene Richardson of Prineville died Thursday of natural causes. She was 78.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Juniper Haven Cemetery.

Mrs. Richardson was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Riverton, Wyo., to John and Hazel (Martin) Nelson. She married Raymond Richardson on Jan. 22, 1943, in Camp Clayborn, La.

She moved to Redmond in 1947 and to Prineville in 1954. Mrs. Richardson worked for Clear Pine as a shipping clerk for 25 years. She retired in 1984.

Mrs. Richardson was affiliated with the Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed crafts and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed camping, boating and going to the beach.

Survivors include her son Richard of Medford; three daughters, Carol Law and Linda Bland, both of Klamath Falls, and Eunice Donnelly of Moscow, Idaho; one brother, Stanley Nelson of Miles City, Mont.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

Katherine Sutton

Feb. 10, 1913 – March 29, 2003

Constance Katherine Sutton of Bend died Saturday of natural causes. She was 90.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Deschutes Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Aspen Ridge Retirement Center.

Mrs. Sutton was born Feb. 10, 1913, in Amherst, Wis., to Joseph and Laura Somers.

She worked for Field Enterprises selling Child Craft and World books.

Mrs. Sutton was affiliated with the Serenader singing group in Bend. She was also a foster grandparent.

She enjoyed music, dancing needle work and gardening.

Survivors include her daughter, Joan Drewes of Bend; a sister, Theresa Somers of Milwaukee, Wis.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Donna Kay Hilts

Jan. 1, 1955 – March 18, 2003

Donna Kay Hilts of Bend died March 18 from complications of cancer. She was 48.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Westside Church in Bend. Pastor Howard Heimbuch or Pastor Ken Johnson will officiate.

Mrs. Hilts was born Jan. 1, 1955, in Cando, N.D. She graduated from the University of North Dakota. She married Hal Hilts on Nov. 20, 1976, in Cando.

She worked for the Bend-La Pine School District at Jewell Elementary School.

Survivors include her husband of Bend; a son, Christopher of Bend; two daughters, Jarica and Jennifer, both of Bend; her mother, Beatrice Hanson of Cando, N.D.; a brother, Lyle Braun of Tioga, N.D.; two sisters, Lois Cobban of Blooming Prairie, Minn., and Danette Coles of Hillsboro, N.D.

Heiden

Nov. 23, 1979 – March 30, 2003

Shane Dallas Heiden of Beaverton died Sunday in an automobile accident. He was 23.

A celebration of life and potluck will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at 59820 Cheyenne Road in Bend.

Mr. Heiden was born Nov. 23, 1979, in Casper, Wyo., to John and Sherry (Terpening) Mort. He married Alicia on June 20, 1998, in Lake Oswego.

He lived in Bend for the past year working as a carpenter for Pennbrook Homes.

Survivors include his wife of Beaverton; two sons, Austin and Trenten, both of Beaverton; his parents of Bend; stepfather, John Mort Sr., of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Johnathan of Bend and Richard Seith of Idaho; seven sisters, Tiffany Pitts, Shawna Cunningham, Anne Goodman, Angel and Chelsea, all of Bend, Tabitha McGlaughlin of Pennsylvania and Bessie Mort of Florida; and grandparents, Francis Marciniak of Bend and Anna Mort of Pennsylvania.

Wendy Sue Carper

Sept. 1, 1980 – March 30, 2003

Wendy Sue Carper of Bend died Sunday in an automobile accident. She was 22.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deschutes Memorial Chapel.

Miss Carper was born Sept. 1, 1980, in Fort Polk, La., to Ron and Debbie (Holmes) Carper. She graduated from Mountain View High School in 1998.

She was a cashier at Jake’s Truck Stop.

Miss Carper enjoyed playing pool, bowling and camping.

Survivors include her parents of Bend; a brother Ron Carper of Oak Harbor, Wash.; a sister, Yvette Akins of Bend; grandparents, Orville Carper of Lostine, Linda Dunn of Fossil and Gary Holmes of Bend.
