Kylene ‘Ky’ Marie Aiken
June 1, 1972 – Aug. 8, 2003
Kylene ”Ky” Marie Aiken of Redmond died Aug. 8. She was 31.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Redmond Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Redmond Memorial Cemetery.
Ms. Aiken was born June 1, 1972, in Bend to Judy Erikson and Doug Aiken. She attended Redmond High School.
She enjoyed gardening, collecting stuffed animals and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Brice of Redmond; a daughter, Kacey Decamp of Redmond; and her parents.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Redmond, Sisters and Grant County.

Dolores Alvarado
Jan. 7, 1912 – Aug. 19, 2003
Dolores Alvarado of La Pine died Tuesday of natural causes. She was 91.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Central Pines Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at La Pine Community Cemetery followed by a burial.
Mrs. Alvarado was born Jan. 7, 1912, in Redding, Calif., to Juan and Isabelle Ortega. She married Anthony Alvarado on June 11, 1932, in San Francisco.
Mrs. Alvarado was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son Dennis of West Fork, Ark.; a daughter, Patricia Trantham of La Pine; a brother, Tony Ortega of San Francisco; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

Ralph L. Meeker
May 19, 1948 – Aug. 17, 2003
Ralph L. Meeker of Prineville died Sunday in an automobile accident. He was 55.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Powell Butte Christian Church.
Mr. Meeker was born May 19, 1948, in Redmond to Robert and Barbara (Shopshire) Meeker. He graduated from Redmond High School in 1967. He married Karen Dyer on March 8, 1969, in Powell Butte.
He worked for the Deschutes County Road Department for many years before starting his own computer company, R.M. Computers, in Prineville in 1998. He also recently worked for Cellular Unlimited.
Mr. Meeker was a member of the Powell Butte Christian Church. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing and coaching Little League baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his three sons, Kevin of Prineville, Jason of Hillsboro and Scott of Bend; a daughter, Trisha of Bend; his mother, Barbara of Redmond; a brother, Earl of Prineville; three sisters, Rae Burwell of Benton, La., Ann Burwell of Delta, Colo., and Janice Dyer of Arlington; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother.

Karen L. Meeker
Feb. 23, 1950 – Aug. 17, 2003
Karen L. Meeker of Prineville died Sunday in an automobile accident. She was 53.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Powell Butte Christian Church.
Mrs. Meeker was born Feb. 23, 1950, in Bend to Bruce and Veva (Coyey) Dyer. She was a 1968 graduate of Bend High School and attended Central Oregon Community College. She married Ralph Meeker on March 8, 1969 in Powell Butte.
Mrs. Meeker operated a day-care center before working at Thriftway as a cake decorator.
She was a member of Powell Butte Christian Church and taught Vacation Bible School. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed spending time with children and her family.
Survivors include her three sons, Kevin of Prineville, Jason of Hillsboro and Scott of Bend; a daughter, Trisha of Bend; her parents of Bend; two brothers, Buck Dyer of Bend and Mark Dyer of Arlington; a sister, Mary Downs of Portland; and four grandchildren.

Martha Lea Vaughn
March 26, 1933 – Aug. 20, 2003
Martha Lea Vaughn of Crooked River Ranch died Wednesday of Lou Gehrig’s disease. She was 70.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Linwood Church of Christ in Milwaukie.
Mrs. Vaughn was born March 26, 1933, in Stumptown, W.Va., to Ralph and Chessie Godfrey. She graduated from Gresham High School. She married Joseph Vaughn on April 27, 1977.
Mrs. Vaughn was a homemaker. She enjoyed writing poetry and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of Crooked River Ranch; a son, Kevin Larson of Oregon City; four daughters, Ronna Wagner of Seattle, LeAnne Richardson and Robyn Vazquez, both of Milwaukie, and Joy Reyes of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, John Godfrey of Portland; and two sisters, Mary Meyers of Portland and Jean Zuber of Colorado.

Jay W. Luttrull
Dec. 8, 1936 – Aug. 7, 2003
Jay W. Luttrull of Redmond died Aug. 7 of cancer. He was 67.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at 1205 NW Davidson Way in Terrebonne.
Mr. Luttrull was born Dec. 8, 1936, in Manter, Kan., to Azzie and Odeas Luttrull.
He served in the Army as a paratrooper.
Mr. Luttrull was a machinist and owned his own machine shop. He was also a certified gunsmith.
His hobbies included hunting, wood-carving, riding horses and playing guitar. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his son Daniel of North Dakota; a daughter, Jennifer of Selma; a sister, Charlene Sparrow of Lake Oswego; and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Doleen C. John
July 8, 1916 – Aug. 15, 2003
Doleen C. John of Bend died Aug. 15 of natural causes. She was 87.
A service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. John was born July 8, 1916, in Jasper County, Texas, to Clem and Alth (Edwards) Caldwell.
She moved to Leola, Ark., in the early 1930s, where she married Henry Rhodes. She moved to Little Rock, Ark., and later Redfield, Ark., where she worked in the egg business. She moved to Crescent in 1972 and worked as a cook before marrying Carl John in 1975.
Her hobbies included fishing, camping, snowmobiling, sewing and travel. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Harris of Little Rock; two sons, David Rhodes of Crescent and Doyle Rhodes of Bend; three sisters, Katherine Riggan, Betty Harrison and Margie Grooms, all of Leola, Ark.; four brothers, Doyle Caldwell of Leola, C.C. Caldwell of Crescent, Bill Caldwell of Wenatchee, Wash., and Charlie Caldwell of Little Rock; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands and parents.

Norman Keith Holmes
Feb. 3, 1936 – Aug. 16, 2003
Norman Keith Holmes of San Jose, Calif., died Aug. 16 of natural causes. He was 67.
A private service will be held.
Mr. Holmes was born Feb. 3, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Raymond and Vivian Holmes. He was a graduate of Madras High School and Oregon Institute of Technology.
Mr. Holmes served in the Army. He married Shirley Holmes on Aug. 16, 1958, in Reno, Nev.
He worked as a supervisor for Hewlett-Packard before retiring in 1996.
His hobbies included motocross racing and fishing. He also enjoyed coaching junior sports and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of San Jose; a son, Michael of Topeka, Kan.; a daughter, Teri Hamm of Citrus Heights, Calif.; a brother, Gary of Sonora, Calif.; a sister, Lynn-Marie Sturdvant of Portland; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Raymond G. Eubank
May 13, 1920 – Aug. 6, 2003
Raymond G. Eubank of Sutherlin died Aug. 6. He was 83.
A private service will be held.
Mr. Eubank was born May 13, 1920, in Shamrock, Texas, to Leonard and Bennina (Basye) Eubank. He married Mildred Brookshire on July 31, 1943, in Yuma, Ariz.
Mr. Eubank was a former resident of Bend. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Fred of Quartz Hills, Calif.; three daughters, Gay Cummins of Manteca, Calif., Lorena Duitsman of Palmdale, Calif., and Linda Hines of Bend; a brother, Charles of Sutherlin; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a grandson.
