Charles ‘Chuck’ C. Reedy

Jan. 19, 1935 — April 1, 2002

Charles ”Chuck” C. Reedy of Redmond died Monday of esophageal cancer. He was 67.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. April 13 at Zion Lutheran Church in Redmond.

Mr. Reedy was born Jan. 19, 1935, in Los Angeles to Christian and Lillian Reedy. He attended the University of California at Los Angeles and Glendale Community College. He married Lee.

He worked in the computer industry for U.S. Borax Corporation for more than 20 years in Los Angeles. He retired and moved to Redmond in 1998.

Mr. Reedy was a member of The Greens, Juniper Golf Club, Central Oregon Shrine Club and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., USA. He was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his two sons, Phillip and Christian, both of Willets, Calif.; two daughters, Janice of Montrose, Calif., and Cindy Reedy-Powell of La Cresenta, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Laurie Chadwick of Redmond; his mother of Glendale, Calif.; a sister, Dorathea Wyatt of Oregon; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and father.

Alma Louise (Long) Jensen

Oct. 5, 1917 — March 31, 2002

Alma Louise (Long) Jensen of Bend died Sunday of age-related causes. She was 84.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. An informal gathering will follow.

Mrs. Jensen was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Pendleton to Glen and Dellos Long. She attended Oregon State University. She married Christopher Jensen on Oct. 4, 1941.

She lived in Portland, the McKenzie River area and Eugene. She moved to Bend in 1999 to be near family.

Mrs. Jensen enjoyed nature, spending time with her family and friends and traveling throughout the world with her husband.

Survivors include her two sons, Christopher of Oakridge and Greg of Bend; a daughter, Jan of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Floyd Long of Redding, Calif.; two sisters, Shirley Hart of Portland and Lois Merriman of Pendleton; and nine grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Central Oregon Hospice or Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers.

Albert ‘Al’ R. Kluser

March 24, 1932 — March 30, 2002

Albert ”Al” R. Kluser of Portland died Saturday at Tuality Community Hospital. He was 70.

A funeral will be held at 11 p.m. Friday at Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home Chapel in Hillsboro.

Mr. Kluser was born March 24, 1932, in Portland to John and Velma (McCallen) Kluser. He married Marilyn Mull on Nov. 24, 1973, in Reno, Nev.

He served in the Navy for four years.

Mr. Kluser worked as a sheet rocker. He then worked as a pumper on barges for Western Transportation. He returned to sheet rocking. He moved to Paulina in 1968 and was a rancher. He also worked as a truck driver for Best Mis Concrete.

He retired in 1995.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, clamming and camping.

Survivors include his wife of Portland; four sons, Gary Steele of Beaverton, Joe Steele of Hillsboro, Ronald of North Powder and Keith Steele of West Linn; two daughters, DeeAnn Stanley of Bend and Suzanna Long of Scappoose; a sister, Darlene Krieck of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rachelle Renee (Wibel) Whitten

Sept. 24, 1969 — March 22, 2002

Rachelle Renee (Wibel) Whitten of Otterbein, Ind., died March 22 of complications following an asthma attack. She was 32.

A service was held.

Mrs. Whitten was born Sept. 24, 1969, in Lynwood, Calif., to Dennis Wibel and Nancy (Woods) Hall. She married Craig Whitten on Jan. 2, 1988.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Whitten enjoyed scrapbooking, traveling and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of Otterbein; two sons, Dexter and Hunter, both of Otterbein; a daughter, Sidney of Otterbein; her father and stepmother, Tammy Wibel, of Bend; her mother and stepfather, Russ Hall, of Guadalupe, Calif.; a brother, Shane Wibel of Bothel, Wash.; three sisters, Marlo Parson of Lompoe, Calif., Devin Wibel and Meagan Wibel, both of Bend; and several grandparents.

Laverne (Dehne) Schnick

Aug. 8, 1918 — March 31, 2002

Laverne (Dehne) Schnick of Prineville died Sunday of natural causes. She was 83.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. April 15 at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Chapel.

Mrs. Schnick was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Fort Rock. She married Marion Schnick on Dec. 10, 1947, in Reno, Nev.

She was a homemaker. She was a co-owner of a furniture manufacturing business.

She moved to Prineville in 1991.

Mrs. Schnick was a member of the Prineville and Bend Eagles Clubs. She enjoyed wilderness trail riding and traveling.

Survivors include her two daughters, Lea Donaldson of Memphis, Tenn., and Jean of Prineville; and a sister, Venita Branch of Portland.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Roberta ‘Sam’ M. (Wallace) Moran

Feb. 17, 1936 — March 31, 2002

Roberta ”Sam” M. (Wallace) Moran of Redmond died Sunday of natural causes. She was 66.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery.

Mrs. Moran was born Feb. 17, 1936, in New York City. She married Ed Moran in August 1971, in Las Vegas.

She was the owner and operator of the Hub and the Brand Restaurants. She also worked as a seamstress for MGM in the movie industry. She lived in Central Oregon from 1981 to 1991 and had moved back recently.

Survivors include her husband of Redmond; two sons, James of Redmond and Edward Burza of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two daughters Jennifer of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Jessica Henning of Del Norte, Colo.; and two grandchildren.

Redmond Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
