Blanche Evelyn (Jones) Schwegler
Feb. 12, 1907 – June 15, 2002
Blanche Evelyn (Jones) Schwegler of Bend died Saturday of Parkinsons disease. She was 95.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at The Summit Assisted Living in Bend.
Mrs. Schwegler was born Feb. 12, 1907, in Minot, N.D. She married Ramon Schwegler on Dec. 26, 1932, in Seattle, Wash.
She earned her associate’s degree at Minot State Teacher College and a bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Washington.
Mrs. Schwegler was a teacher.
She was affiliated with Eastern Star and the Auxiliary of American Society of Civil Engineers.
Survivors include her two sons, Lee of Glastonbury, Conn., and Bruce of Bend; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

Orville Buddy’ Frank Knouse Jr.
Sept. 14, 1945 – June 15, 2002
Orville ”Buddy” Frank Knouse Jr. of Bend died Saturday. He was 56.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Chapel.
Mr. Knouse was born Sept. 14, 1945, in Heron, S.D., to Orville and Carrie Knouse.
He served in the Army.
Mr. Knouse worked in the lumber industry and most recently at Bend Millworks.
He enjoyed bowling, camping and fishing.
Survivors include his fiance, Donna Litehiser; two stepsons, Charles and Arthur, both of California; two stepdaughters, Darlene Crisp of Redmond and Arlene Allen of Bend; a brother, Jeff of Germany; a sister, Christine of Bend; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

John Jack’ Linford Ward
March 16, 1928 – June 18, 2002
John ”Jack” Linford Ward of Bend died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 74.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Evangelical Church in Bend.
Mr. Ward was born March 16, 1928, in Chicago. He married Lois Pierce on Aug. 15, 1953, in Compton, Calif.
He was an ordained minister and pastored churches in California and Oregon for 33 years. He was also a realtor and a broker for The Homebuyers Store in Bend.
Mr. Ward enjoyed his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; a son, Brad of Bend; a daughter, Bonnie Elson of Issaquah, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, his parents and a sister.

Shirley Kaye (Thompson) Cordero
March 8, 1938 – June 18, 2002
Shirley Kaye (Thompson) Cordero of Bend died Tuesday of natural causes. She was 64.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cordero was born March 8, 1938, in Oklahoma City. She married Denis Cordero on Feb. 26, 1992, in Orange County, Calif.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Cordero enjoyed latch-hook rugs, puzzles, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of Bend; two sons, Don Sterling of Huntington Beach, Calif., and John Sterling of Bend; a stepson, Denis Cordero of southern California; a daughter, Lisa Ryba of Bend; a stepdaughter, Jenice Anderson of southern California; two sisters, Carol Ann Roberts of Oklahoma City and Jacqueline Jones of Palm Desert, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dr. Rolland ”Spec” A. Martin of Stayton died May 18. He was 81.
