The mission of Lava Ridge School is to provide our students with the highest quality education by developing every child’s knowledge, skills, confidence and a sense of community, through a partnership between students, staff, and families, where diversity is celebrated.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

1. All students can learn with a personal commitment and support from their families and school staff. Every student is encouraged to become a disciplined, creative and well motivated learner.

2. We believe a sense of community and belonging is very important. Lava Ridge School is a school where everyone comes together for learning and where everyone’s input is valued. The separate classrooms and neighborhoods are connected by a sense of purpose, in a climate that is just, disciplined and caring, with occasions for celebration.

3. The circle of community extends outward to embrace parents and a vital partnership is created between home and school. Parents are viewed as the child’s first and most important teacher. Families are encouraged to volunteer, or choose other ways to support their child in the school setting, and take responsibility for the home learning environment.

4. All neighborhoods are responsible for the same curriculum and outcomes. Neighborhoods may go about the task with a different focus or theme and different styles of learning.
