Jean (Wickwire) Lewis

Dec. 15, 1922 Oct. 31, 2001

Jean (Wickwire) Lewis of Crooked River Ranch died Oct. 31 of emphysema at her daughter-in-law’s home in Aloha. She was 78.

A private service was held for her.

Mrs. Lewis was born Dec. 15, 1922, in Larned, Kan., to Giles and Marie Wickwire. She married Lyman Lewis.

She worked as a general assembler for B-17 airplanes for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation during World War II. She worked as a bookkeeper for Taylor Lumber Mills in Sheridan. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the Hillsboro Airport, Napa Auto Parts and Banner Furniture. She and her husband moved to Crooked River Ranch.

Survivors include her husband of Crooked River Ranch; two daughters, Beverly Reichen of Hillsboro and Linda of San Francisco; one brother, Edward Wickwire of Spokane, Wash.; one sister, Joan Reed of Fayetteville, Ark.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son and sister.

Mark Ernie Steinlicht

June 15, 1950 – Nov. 7, 2001

Mark Ernie Steinlicht of Bend died Nov. 7 of liver cancer in Salem. He was 51.

A private service was held for him.

Mr. Steinlicht was born June 15, 1950 in Portland. He married Diane (McClain) Steinlicht on June 28, 1975.

He worked served in the Navy, aboard the USS Joseph Strauss during the Vietnam War. Mr. Steinlicht worked as an equipment operator and carpenter for E.E. Steinlicht Co. in the 1960s and 70s. He owned and operated Mark Steinlicht Construction from 1980-1985. He was also an equipment operator for Mark Latham Excavation Inc. from 1993-1998. He was also a member of the 14 Bubbler Club of Bend.

He was an avid sailor of many water crafts, including one he lived on in San Francisco with his family for six years. He was also an artist, working with welding, carpentry and concrete. He made several topiaries that are on display at Pier 39 in San Francisco.

He also enjoyed skiing, ice skating, camping in the desert and motorcycling. He was an innovative and resourceful mechanic.

Survivors include Mr. Steinlicht’s wife of Tumalo; one daughter, Lilli Steinlicht of Ashland; one son-in-law, Peter Walker of Ashland; his mother, Gladys Steinlicht of Bend; one sister, Nan Johnson of Terrebonne; and his grandmother, Marie Olson of Bend.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandfather and brother.

Denzel Lee Wilson

Nov. 10, 1926 – Nov. 16, 2001

Denzel Lee Wilson of Sunriver died of natural causes in Sunriver. He was 75.

A memorial service will be held for Mr. Wilson Monday at 17452 Curlew Drive in Sunriver.

Mr. Wilson was born on Nov. 11, 1926 in Peoria, Okla. He married LaJean Noller on Aug. 24, 1949 in Vancouver, Wash.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman First Class on Oct. 16, 1947. For twelve years after, he worked as a custodian for the Bend Public School District.

Mr. Wilson enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, LaJean Wilson; two sons, Michael D. Wilson of Madison Wis., and Randy J. Wilson of Chiloquin, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy L. (Milroy) Hynes

June 16, 1924 – Nov. 16, 2001

Dorothy L. (Milroy) Hynes of Bend died Nov. 16 of natural causes in Bend. She was 77.

A public service was held.

Mrs. Hynes was born on June 16, 1924 in Los Angeles. She married William Hynes on Dec. 12, 1947 in Tigard. The couple moved to Redmond from Burns in 1986.

She was a home maker and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Redmond. She was very active in volunteer work, gardening and helping people. She enjoyed traveling, music and dancing.

Survivors include four sons, Kelly Hynes, David Hynes, and Dennis Hynes of Bend, Craig Hynes of Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter, Annette Hynes of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Carol Winczewski and Annell Pulicella, both of Newberg; two brothers, Dick Milroy of Elko, Nev. and John Milroy of Newberg; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Michael Curtis Ramey

May 9, 1949 – Nov. 14, 2001

Michael Curtis Ramey of Bend died Nov. 14 of natural causes in Bend. He was 52.

A memorial service was held, and a burial was at Paisley, Ore.

Mr. Ramey was born May 9, 1949 in Dallas. He married Diana Gaylord Jan. 10, 1968 in Bisbee, Ariz.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1974, and was honorably discharged. He worked as an auto body repairman and was a member of the Moose Lodge. Mr. Ramey enjoyed water skiing and spending time with his family. He built and worked on cars, motorcycles and computers.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; his mother, Frances Alameda Gaylord of Paisley, Ore.; two daughters, Andrea Gibb of Stevensville, Mont. and Carmen Dick of Lakeview; three brothers, Steven Gaylord of Paisley, Kimball Ramey of Dallas and Mark Ramey of Trenton, Miss.; one sister, Ricki Ramey of San Antonio; and four grandchildren.
