Michael D. Hausman
March 4, 1942 July 17, 2001
Michael D. Hausman of Sunriver died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 59.
A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
Mr. Hausman was born March 4, 1942, in Templeton, Iowa. He married Maria Wiley Geslicka on April 20, 1963, in Coon Rapids, Iowa.
He was a traveling insurance salesman. He retired five years ago.
Mr. Hausman was a member of the Sunriver Racquet Club. He was affiliated with the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
He enjoyed working out, hiking, biking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of Sunriver; two sons, John and Paul, both of La Pine; two daughters, Jackie of Dayton and Tanya Miller of Coos Bay; one brother, Mark of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Mary Anne Engstrom of Emettsburg, Iowa; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Oregon Hospice.

Walter L. Gaber
June 17, 1912 July 14, 2001
Walter L. Gaber of Bend died Saturday of natural causes. He was 89.
A private scattering of the ashes will be held.
Mr. Gaber was born June 17, 1912, in Carrolltown, Pa. He married Monica Ivancovich in 1940 in Carson City, Nev.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He worked in a lumber mill and was a grader of lumber until 1960. He was the owner and operator of Redmond Premier Bowl until his retirement in 1979.
Mr. Gaber enjoyed bowling, fishing and reading.
Survivors include his son, Joseph of Mexico; one daughter, Nancy of Bellevue, Wash.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

William ‘Bill’ T. Rutherford

William ”Bill” T. Rutherford of Portland died Monday. He was 88.
A private graveside service will be held.
Mr. Rutherford was born Aug. 22, 1912, in Portland. He married Jean Devine in 1940 in Portland.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a Southwest Portland banker.
Mr. Rutherford was a member of the Board of Directors of the Oregon Humane Society.
He enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife of King City; two daughters, Kathi Marzolla of Prineville and Pamela Everett of Redmond; one sister, Alice Boswell of Irvine, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Oregon Humane Society.

George Gottlieb Meier

George Gottlieb Meier of Gresham died Friday, July 6. He was 99.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel in Gresham.
Mr. Meier was born April 23, 1902, in Zurich, Switzerland. He moved to the United States in 1921.
He married Lena Ann Schindler on Sept. 18, 1922.
Mr. Meier was the Plant Manager for the Mayflower Milk Plant in Salem. He retired in 1968.
He was a member of the Pacific Lodge #50, Scottich Rite of Free Masonary, Al Kader Shrine in Salem and Portland, Elks Lodge #336 and Eagles. He was an honorary retired member of the Teamsters.
Mr. Meier enjoyed playing the bass drum and cymbals in the Shrine Band.
Survivors include his two daughters, Mert Drorbaugh of Gresham and Trudie Gavette of La Pine; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

Armin L. Verbarg

Armin L. Verbarg of Bend died Tuesday of a ruptured appendix. He was 94.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church.
Mr. Verbarg was born Nov. 05, 1906, in San Francisco. He married Luella in 1931 in Oakland Calif.
He worked for Boise Cascade.
Survivors include his daughter, Joan of Bend; and one sister, Henriett Mueller of St. Maries, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Bend or Mt. Hermon Christian Conference Center.

Helen Otavia (Raustrom) Gerdts

Helen Otavia (Raustrom) Gerdts of Redmond died Monday July 2 of natural causes. She was 94.
A memorial service will be held 12 a.m. Sept. 2 in Missoula, Mont.
Mrs. Gerdts was born July 23, 1906, in St. Regis, Mont., to Otto and Hannah Swanson. She attended Modern Business College for two years. She married Karl Gerdts on Dec. 8, 1940, in Missoula, Mont.
She worked for Western States Grocery Company as a stenographer and clerk.
Mrs. Gerdts was a member of the Immanual Chapter #54, Order of Eastern Star. She was affiliated with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son, Carl of Redmond; one daughter, Shirley Gorton of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Esther Fiore of Milbrae, Calif., and Ruth Burgeson of Seattle; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather and one brother.

Harold Lloyd Marker

Harold Lloyd Marker of Bend died Saturday. He was 61.
A graveside service followed by a burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Powell Butte Cemetery.
Mr. Marker was born Sept. 9, 1940, in Vale. He married Shirley Steele on Nov. 28, 1958, in Weiser, Idaho.
He worked for the Pacific Railroad as a foreman.
He was affiliated with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Pendleton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, prospecting, traveling and being with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; one son, Jim of Redmond; one daughter, Valerie Pooschke of Powell Butte; one brother, Bruce of Pendleton; two sisters, Nora Ann Shipley of Umatilla and Gwen Dietz of Pendleton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister.
