Ray McKinney

Ray McKinney of Mesa, Ariz., died Nov. 25 of cancer. He was 72.
A private service will be held.
Mr. McKinney was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Newberg. He married Dorene McKinney.
He served in the Army for four years.
Mr. McKinney worked as a boiler operator at Willamette Industries. He moved to Bend in 1971. He retired in 1987. He then moved to Mesa in May of 2001 to be near family.
Survivors include his two daughters, Gayla Steeneck of Mesa and Sherrie Hanna of White Salmon, Wash.; two brothers, both of Portland; two sisters both, of Portland; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.

(Benton) Lynam

Zylpha W. (Benton) Lynam of Terrebonne died Thursday of natural causes. She was 103.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Prineville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lynam was born Sept. 3, 1898, in Pony, Mont., to Frank and Ella Benton.
She worked as a waitress. She also owned and operated the Past Time Tavern in Redmond.
Mrs. Lynam was a member and past president of the Central Oregon Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her nephew, Earl Doney of Prineville; and numerous other nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husband, parents, a brother and four sisters.

DeBoard

Joan Kay (Rush) DeBoard of Prineville died Wednesday. She was 62.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at Whispering Pines Funeral Home. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Whispering Pines Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mrs. DeBoard was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Prineville to Robert and Inez (Struck) Rush. She married Snoden DeBoard on Aug. 1, 1959, in Hood River.
She worked for Ochoco Hardware, J.C. Penney Co., and Erickson’s Supermarket. She then owned and operated the Independent Meat Market with her husband. She also worked for Les Schwab. She retired in 1996.
Mrs. DeBoard was affiliated with St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Prineville Soroptimists and Ochoco Players. She was also an associated member of the Crooked River Roundup Association. She was an identifier of horses and worked in the roundup office and paddock. She was chaperone of the queen’s court and operated the Home Economics Building at the Crook County Fair.
She enjoyed arrowhead hunting, horseback riding, camping, sewing, canning, cooking, toll and picture painting, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of Prineville; two sons, Snoden James and Bob, both of Prineville; a daughter, Robyn Culpepper of Hood River; a brother Robb Rush of Prineville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Alfred Sottosanti

Alfred Sottosanti of Bend died Tuesday. He was 77.
A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Mr. Sottosanti was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Teaneck, N.J., to Sebastian and Lillian (Roncotti) Sottosanti. He married Mary Nelson in 1948, in Las Vegas.
He served in the Army in Central Europe during World War II.
Mr. Sottosanti worked as the primary salesman of Deschutes River Woods.
He enjoyed visiting casinos, betting on race horses, poker and football.
Survivors include his two sons, Charlie of Bend and Alan of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Lynette of Yuma, Ariz., and Jackie of Bend; one brother, Ray of Utah; one sister, Marie of Santa Barbara, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother.
