Oregon guard Nani Falatea shoots a three-pointer as the No. 25 Ducks face the North Texas Mean Green in a women’s college basketball game at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024.

In a game defined by relentless pace, back-and-forth runs and blistering three-point shooting, Oregon women’s basketball came up just short in a 94-90 road loss to Nebraska on Wednesday night.

Nebraska shot 15-29 (52%) from three. Oregon was 12-27 (44%).

The Cornhuskers (18-9, 9-7 Big Ten) were led by sharpshooting center Alexis Markowski, who poured in a career-high 35 points (including six threes) along with 15 rebounds.

The Ducks (18-9, 9-7) were led once again by guard Deja Kelly with 22 points, her third consecutive 20-point effort, and six assists. Nani Falatea added 20 points for Oregon as its overtime comeback bid came up short.

The Cornhuskers led, 90-85, with 59.6 seconds to go in overtime. Phillipina Kyei would then cut it to 90-88 with an and-one against Markowski with 44.8 seconds left.

Callin Hake responded eight seconds later, nailing a corner three to make it 93-88. Falatea’s layup made it 93-90 with 30 seconds left.

While Oregon was able to force a jump ball to get it back, Falatea missed a three that would have tied it with 16.7 seconds left. Kyei fouled out on the ensuing rebound, sending Markowski to the line. She hit one of two to seal the win.

Oregon hosts Rutgers (10-16, 2-13) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
