Edgar Allan Poe, America’s official Halloween poet and author (deceased), is getting a lot of love in Bend this month.

Last week, we told you about last night’s opening of “The Masque of the Red Death: A Journey into the World of Edgar Allan Poe,” at Innovation Theatre Works, 1155 S.W. Division St., Bend.

Three classic Poe tales have been adapted for the stage at Innovation. The space — the former home of a church, if memory serves — has been transmogrified “into a cauldron of horror.”

As patrons move from room to room, they’ll enjoy a new dinner course, and terrifying tale, at each stop. The show runs at 7 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays through Nov. 3.

Tickets are $35 each and include dinner by A La Carte Catering and show.

And don’t forget Bend actor Alastair Jacques’ “An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe” at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Tower Theatre, 835 N.W. Wall St., Bend.

This marks the sixth year Jacques has performed as Poe, reading and discussing his works with the audience. The show has grown to the point that it has outgrown its previous home, the Des Chutes Historical Museum.

The event benefits the museum and the Tower Theatre Foundation.
