Candidates for Deschutes County Commission Position No. 2 are scheduled to participate in a community forum on Thursday in Bend.
Voters can attend in person or watch online.
All candidates are set to take part: incumbent Phil Chang and challengers Brian Huntamer, Robert C. Imhoff and Judy Trego.
The forum is produced by the Central Oregon Open Programming Media Group, a program of Connect Central Oregon, and is hosted in partnership with The Bulletin and EO Media.
The nonpartisan forum will be facilitated by Redmond Spokesman Editor Tim Trainor, former Deschutes County Commissioner Alan Unger and former state Rep. Cheri Helt.
The forum will include brief remarks from all candidates, followed by conversational dialogue with moderators and questions from the audience. To submit questions, email: decision@connectcentraloregon.org.
In-person and online participants are invited to submit questions during the forum, with those moderated questions presented at the forum and through follow-up conversation.
“By driving a dialog rather than straight debate of campaign platforms and slogans, EO Media and Connect Central Oregon are attempting to create a conversation that will enable voters to get a better understanding of the candidates and extend the dialogue past the event itself,” said Jim Fister, Connect Central Oregon board member and program director of of Central Oregon Open Programming Media Group.
The forum is set to begin at 6 p.m. and include a 10-minute break midway through. It is scheduled to end at 8 p.m., followed by an opportunity to meet and mingle with the candidates and other community members.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at the Larkspur Community Center, 1600 SE Reed Market Road in Bend. Watch online on the Connect Central Oregon YouTube channel.
