Zepparella brings the music of Led Zeppelin to Bend

- The Led Zeppelin tribute band Zepparella will perform Thursday night at the Tower Theatre.
Led Zeppelin last performed in 2007 — a special one-off set for a tribute to music industry executive Ahmet Ertegün — and last toured in 1980, disbanding at the end of that year after the death of drummer John Bonham.
In the decades since — even as big paydays have convinced many lesser acts to do so — the band’s surviving members have resisted the temptation to reunite, if there is any temptation at all.
This is all just a long way of saying that if you want to hear the legendary Led Zeppelin’s mighty rock ‘n’ roll performed live, you’ll need to catch one of the many tribute acts who have filled in the void. And one of the best of the bunch will stop at Bend’s Tower Theatre Thursday night: Zepparella, the all-female four-piece founded by the drummer, Clementine and fronted by Anna Kristina, who capably approximates Robert Plant’s soulful vocals and fiery stage presence.
Like Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones did in Led Zeppelin, respectively, Gretchen Menn plays guitar and Holly West plays bass in Zepparella, rounding out the band’s uncannily Zepp-esque sound.
Zepparella: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, doors open 6:30 p.m., $29-$49, Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall Street, Bend, towertheatre.org.
