CLASSES and CLINICS
June 8-9, June 15-16, June 22-23, June 29-30, July 6-7, July 13-14, July 20-21, July 27-28, Aug. 3-4, Aug. 10-11, Aug. 17-18, Aug. 24-25: 100 Yards In at Black Butte Ranch. These two-day clinics will be held Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer to help improve fundamentals of pitching, chipping, putting, sand play and full swing up to 100 yards. June 11-12, June 18-19, June 25-26, July 2-3, July 9-10, July 16-17, July 23-24, July 30-31, Aug. 6-7, Aug. 13-14, Aug. 20-21, Aug. 27-28: Two-Day Junior Camp at Black Butte Ranch. Juniors 6-17 years of age can enjoy two days of fun and learning. Classes are tailored to the age and abilities of every student. Ladies Only Golf Schools create a comfortable learning environment for female golfers of all abilities. Includes five hours of instruction, a golf school workbook, putting board, alignment aids, two rounds of golf with cart and two lunches at Robert’s Pub. June 10, June 17, June 24, July 1, July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29, Aug. 5, Aug. 12, Aug. 19, Aug. 26: Adult/Child Golf Clinic at Black Butte Ranch. Nine Mondays throughout the summer, Black Butte Ranch will hold two-hour instruction for golfers and one round of golf. The clinic starts at 9 a.m. and will cost $175 ($80 for an additional child). 541-595-1545.
June 19-22, July 9-12, July 23-26: PGA Junior Golf Camps at Awbrey Glen Golf Club. Kids ages 8 to 13 will receive action-packed, hands-on instruction with a focus on developing golf skills. Led by two-time U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Coach Tim Fraley, instruction includes full swing, short game, rules and etiquette. For three hours each day, campers learn and hone their skills with a strong emphasis placed on golf’s fundamentals. The cost for the four-day camp is $350. 541-385-6011.

Sunriver Men’s Golf Club: Sunriver Men’s Golf Club announces another season of weekly games with competition and social events. The club plays at Sunriver’s two courses, the Woodlands and Meadows, every Wednesday with set tee times and shotgun starts. Every week there is a different competition with individual, team and championship formats. You do not need to be a resident of Sunriver to join. Business League at Greens at Redmond: Every Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. through Aug. 16. Teams consist of four golfers. Entry fee is $200. Payout at the end of the season in the form of pro-shop credit. These are 18-hole tournaments. 541-923-0694.
Ladies of the Lakes: At Meadow Lakes Golf Course in Prineville, every Thursday through September. The ladies league plays a variety of individual games throughout the season. There is also an optional closest to the pin contest on one of the par 3s each week. Established play for the Ladies of the Lakes will be 18 holes. Starting time is 8:30 a.m. in May, June and September and 8 a.m. in July and August. Cost to join the league is $80, which includes USGA Handicap. Players may elect to participate without a handicap but are not eligible for net competition and will compete in “flight one” of the gross competition. June 11-12: Ladies Invitational at Bend Golf Club. One of the oldest ladies’ tournaments in the Pacific Northwest, this 57-year-old event is a gross and net medal-play tourney. It is a 36-hole event, plus a practice round. All amateur women golfers with established USGA handicaps are eligible to participate. Payouts are both net and gross prizes. June 24: COJGA Classic Fundraiser Golf Tournament at Broken Top Club. Raises money to support Central Oregon Junior Golf Association. All boys and girls 12 and older will play 18 holes and all boys and girls 8 to 11 years old will play 9 holes in an individual stroke play competition. Players must be an amateur between the ages of 8-18 on the day of the tournament. For OGA members, 18-hole divisions are $65 and 9-hole divisions are $45. For nonmembers, it’s $85 and $65. July 20-21: Mirror Pond Invitational at Bend Golf Club. 2024 marks the 70th year of Bend Golf Club’s marquee amateur event. This individual 36-hole stroke-play event is open to amateurs 18 and older with current USGA handicaps. Entry fee includes a practice round and two rounds of competition. July 22: Drive, Chip and Putt Qualifier at Broken Top Club. Open to boys and girls ages 7-15. Boys and girls will compete in separate divisions in four age categories: 7-9 years old; 10-11 years old; 12-13 years old; and 14-15 years old. Each participant will compete in all three skills. Participants will attempt three shots per skill, for a total of nine shots, accumulating points per shot. July 29: U.S. Amateur Qualifying at Bend Golf Club. Final stage qualifier for the 2024 U.S. Amateur Golf Championship. The 124th U.S. Amateur Championship will be played Aug. 12-18 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. Competitors will have to qualify through the qualifying rounds like this one. Aug. 19: Central Oregon Brewers Cup at Black Butte Ranch. An 18-hole scramble that is open to members and guests. The cost is $105 per player or $420 per team. The tournament start at 8 a.m. and the registration deadline is Aug. 8. 541-595-1500.
Aug. 19-20: OGA Junior Tour at Eagle Crest Resort. 36-hole stroke play gross competition for all 18 hole divisions and 18-hole stroke play competition for all 9-hole divisions. Must be an amateur between the ages of 8 and 18 years of age as of Aug. 8, 2023. Must be a 2024 Member of Oregon Junior Golf. The cost is $70 for 18-hole divisions and $50 for 9-hole. Aug. 26: Central Oregon Junior Golf Association Cup at Broken Top Club. Stroke play finale for 9-hole divisions (9 & younger boys, 10-11 boys and 11 & younger girls) and 18-hole divisions (13 & younger boys, 14-18 boys, 13 & younger girls and 14-18 girls). Sept. 9-15: PGA Cup at Sunriver Meadows course. A biennial contest between PGA Professionals from the PGA of Great Britain & Ireland and the PGA of America. The event is contested by teams of 10 players over three days, with four foursomes and four four-ball matches on each of the first two days, and 10 singles matches on the final day. 541-593-3416.
Sept. 26-29: Senior PGA Professional Championship at Sunriver Meadows and Woodlands courses. A four-day, 72-hole event for PGA Professionals 50 years of age and older. The low 35 finishers earn a berth in the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. 541-593-3416.
Oct. 1-5: Women’s PGA Cup at Sunriver Meadows course. A 54-hole, stroke-play event, with each team’s lowest three scores counted after each round. The winning country will be the team with the lowest 54-hole aggregate total. The 2022 edition featured women PGA Professionals from six PGA Associations — Australia, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland, South Africa, Sweden and the United States. 541-593-3416.
