Karen Jo Corwin
April 1, 1950 – June 2, 2024
Karen Jo Corwin passed away on June 2nd, 2024 at her dream home in Bend, Oregon with her husband of 54 years by her side.
Karen, affectionately known as “Sissy” by her parents and brothers, “K-Jo” by her kids, “Hon” by her husband, and “Mop-Bop” or “Grandma Dog Dog” by her grandkids, was born in The Dalles on April 1st, 1950 to Alvin and Nyla Lundgren. She grew up in Bend with her five brothers and graduated from Bend High School in 1968. She went on to be successful in many pursuits.
Karen lived her 74 years of life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared deeply for her family, community, and animals. Karen took it upon herself to go back to school and earned her LPN degree from COCC after which she spent many years working with the elderly. In addition, she was a hospice volunteer, a Red Cross volunteer, volunteered at the Bethlehem Inn, and volunteered with Volunteers in Medicine. When she could no longer work, she continued supporting her local community and various organizations close to her heart, financially.
Karen had a beautiful smile, a keen sense of humor, and a laugh you could pick out of others. She could often be found at her grandkids’ sporting events, music performances, or other times when a familiar face and words of support were so appreciated. She will be missed.
She is survived by her husband Wally Corwin – Bend, son Kasey Corwin – Bend, daughter Lindsy Nelson- Phoenix, grandsons Callahan – Bend, Cole – Bend, granddaughters Hailey – Boise, Lorren – Phoenix, Lily – Phoenix, and great grandson Brodie – Boise, brothers Rodney Lundgren – Gladstone, Ronald Lundgren – Placerville CA, and Mark Lundgren – Bend.
The family will hold a celebration of life for Karen Jo on Saturday July 20th at the outdoor Picnic area at Shevlin Park in Bend beginning at 2 PM. We will also be celebrating the lives of her brothers, John Lundgren and Larry Lundgren both of whom passed away outside of Oregon. All family, acquaintances, and friends are invited.
