Garbage is unloaded and compacted at Knott Landfill in November. 

The Deschutes County dump and recycling center, Knott Landfill, will be closed for the day July 28 to complete road maintenance.

The landfill, located at61050 SE 27th St., is typically open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but the county will be doing chip-sealing work on roads within the facility on July 28.

“We are asking the public to plan accordingly and choose a different day to drop off their waste and recycle items,” Deschutes County Public Information Officer Kimberly Katchur said in a news release.

Those prepping for a trip to the dump can view traffic levels on a live camera to avoid busy periods.
