A power outage on Tuesday morning left hundreds of Bend homes and businesses in the dark and caused backups at intersections where traffic lights were turned into four-way stop signs. The culprit: a squirrel.
The outage began at 7:40 a.m. impacting 6,483 customers, according to Simon Gutierrez, a spokesperson for Pacific Power.
Service was fully restored by 10:34 a.m., he said. Gutierrez said a squirrel inside a substation caused a fuse to blow, resulting in the outage.
