Smith fled from the police, running toward the Arco gas station at the corner of Third Street and Greenwood Avenue, according to a release from Bend Police spokeswoman Sheila Miller. There, he allegedly assaulted a gas station employee who tried to stop him from leaving the area, police said. The employee and another community member were able to keep Smith from leaving until officers arrived.
Smith was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, menacing, harassment and unlawful use and possession of a firearm.
Smith was also wanted on a felony warrant issued by the Oregon Youth Authority for probation violation, police said.
