‘Entangle’ with community at a two-day immersive gallery experience

- "Entangle" is an immersive art exhibit taking place at Open Space Event Studios Friday and Saturday.
Caitlin Wraith wanted to play a house show, but she didn’t know anyone hosting such intimate concerts and the ones she heard of were by invite-only.
So in 2022, Wraith founded Invisible Thread Events to host monthly house shows with open invitations that can be found on her website and social media pages.
Invisible Thread aims to create spaces for community members to connect through music and art. It was inspired by a Chinese proverb that reads, “An invisible thread connects those destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break,” according to a press release.
On Friday and Saturday, Wraith hosts her largest event yet.
“Entangle” is an immersive two-day gallery experience showcasing over 30 local artists with interactive art installations, live performances and film screenings that will be held at Open Space Event Studios.
Like Invisible Thread, “Entangle,” is rooted in community. Participating artists of all mediums were challenged to create installations that were both collaborative and interactive. Wraith was inspired by the traveling pop-up exhibit Wonderspaces and helms the project with multimedia artist Rachel Lee-Carman.
“Community and connection are two big themes in everything I do,” Wraith said, adding she hopes those who visit the exhibit feel a little bit of both.

An invitation to connect
The exhibit has been building steam since early spring through networking events and free community workshops. Some artists met for the first time while collaborating on the project and have become friends. Such connections are the outcome Wraith hoped for when she began Invisible Thread and are her favorite part of hosting events, she said.
Éva Lund and Sage Flannery collaborated on a life-size human figure that invites patrons to look within themselves while in community. Kelli McMaster and Justin Parris worked together on a miniature theater space inviting patrons to create their own scenes and stories. Another collaboration includes MJ Puccio and Story Strom, who brought to life an altar for the spirit of the crow, symbolizing wisdom, intuition and the power of change, according to a press release.
Wraith is bringing together other community connectors, such as Ron Sparks and Adam Foster of Hush Hush Coffee, a monthly coffee club that encourages the community to join them in sipping a morning cup of joe in adventurous outdoor spaces.
Bola Gbadebo’s human-interest documentary “Confidence” will be screened, inviting viewers to consider the commonalities, rather than the differences, they share with one another. The film is a passion project for Gbadebo, a Central Oregon-based journalist, poet and filmmaker.
“The film is a great way to engage the community in deeper conversations about oneness and the depths of people beyond title, status and ego,” Gbadebo said in the press release.

“Entangle” is the culmination of Wraith’s years of weaving a web of connections.
“I’m impressed with the creativity and also just the excitement that artists have had,” Wraith said. “I’m really excited about the whole thing — really excited about bringing people together and supporting local art and music and community.”
