A golf simulator is set to open near the Old Mill District starting next year. X-Golf will open at 389 SW Scalehouse Court, east of the shopping area. It will offer seven golf simulators, TVs, dart games and a pool table. The golf games use technology to create accurate ball and swing data. Simulators are popular for corporate events and parties. “We’re excited for X-Golf to be another piece of Bend’s amazing golf community,” said Beau Eastes, the Old Mill District’s marketing director, in a prepared statement. “There isn’t a better golf simulator experience out there. It’s a fantastic training tool for serious golfers, but it’s also just a blast to book a bay with friends and family for a fun night out.”

General Motors is recalling nearly 462,000 pickup trucks and SUVs with diesel engines because the rear wheels can lock up, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall in the U.S. covers certain Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups from 2020 through 2022. Also included are the 2021 Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. GM says in government documents that a transmission control valve can wear out over time. In rare cases it can fail and lock up the wheels. GM says dealers will install software to monitor the valve and detect excess wear before the wheels can lock up. GM will provide warranty coverage to fix transmissions with defective valves. Owners will be notified by letter Dec. 9.

Amazon.com Inc. has launched an online storefront designed to compete with Temu, the low-cost shopping app that gained traction with shoppers who trade longer shipping times for rock-bottom prices. Amazon describes Haul, which is available in a beta version for shoppers who use the company’s smartphone app or mobile browsers, as an “engaging shopping experience that brings lower priced products into one convenient destination.” Purchases are delivered in one to two weeks. The company charges a $3.99 shipping fee that’s waived for orders larger than $25.

DirecTV intends to terminate its planned acquisition of Dish Network Corp. in 10 days if bondholders don’t agree to a debt exchange. “A successful exchange was a condition for acquiring the Dish video business,” a DirecTV spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “Given the outcome of the EchoStar exchange, DirecTV will have no choice but to terminate the acquisition of Dish by midnight on Nov. 22.” A representative for Dish, which was acquired by EchoStar Corp. in the past year, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
