Club volleyball coach from Sisters sentenced for abuse of juvenile

A 23-year-old Sisters man pleaded guilty in December to sexually abusing a juvenile girl who he coached in a local volleyball club.

Zachary Anderson pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree sexual abuse for touching the juvenile girl inappropriately while he was her coach on Jan. 5, 2023. Anderson, who coached at the private Elite Volleyball Academy in Redmond, was sentenced to five years probation, according to records in Deschutes County Circuit Court.

He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to not have contact with minors. He was also required to register as a sex offender and can no longer serve as a coach.

If Anderson violates his probation, he could face 1½ years in prison, according to court records.

Anderson was arrested by Redmond Police on May 17 when he turned himself in at the police department.
