Police responded around 5:40 a.m. Black Butte Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted, the release said.
Forgett was declared dead at the scene. The highway wasn’t affected during the on-scene investigation of Forgett’s death, the release said.
Capt. Kyle Kennedy with the state police said in an email there was a delay in identifying Forgett’s next of kin, which resulted in a weeklong delay in notifying the public of the crash.
Police don’t believe intoxicants were a factor in the crash at this time, Kennedy said.
