Two men attempted to forcibly remove an ATM from the Washington Federal Bank in Prineville early Monday, using a stolen pickup truck and a tow rope.

Prineville Police Department officers found the truck, attached by the rope to a damaged ATM, after being called to the scene around 4 a.m. Monday.

Video surveillance showed two men unsuccessfully trying to steal the ATM before  fleeing on foot. The pickup truck was discovered to have been stolen from Redmond around an hour before.

Along with drones and a police dog from Redmond, officers searched the area for the suspects but did not find them.

Though the suspects are unknown, police say crimes committed include attempted aggravated theft, criminal mischief, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of burglary tools.

The investigation is ongoing, and the public is encouraged to share pertinent information and relevant home surveillance video with police officers.
