Guest Column: The American Dream is becoming harder to achieve

Most of us have ancestors who’ve immigrated to the USA. A great multitude of families and individuals and cultures, all with the same intention: hope in The Dream. The Dream of liberty and freedom and the ability to pursue life without the oppression of tyrannical leaders, corrupt laws and illegal mandates. This Dream is what has historically brought Americans together in spite of race, color or creed. It is the profound guiding principles of our Founding Fathers, and The Dream, that have facilitated tremendous growth, happiness and success for America. It’s why many felt courageous enough to fight to the death. It is these precious guiding principles that allowed for The Dream’s fulfillment and my passion for my Scottish heritage, American history and our founding documents.
With my knowledge of history and belief that it is about to repeat itself — and society at large unaware of what is happening, I have been emboldened to pursue a leadership role in the Deschutes Republican Party. In order to help re-establish our guiding principles, it is my job to lead our party to seek out electable candidates that are constitutional conservatives with an America First platform for upcoming elections, raise funds for them to win and fill all precinct committee person (PCP) seats available in Deschutes County.
In the meantime, I’m sick and tired of paying nearly double for gas compared to when Trump was in office. Increases in food, utilities, housing, high interest rates, insurance, medical costs and restricted products, as well as loss of net income, are all unsustainable. What is happening is manufactured by an elite group who wish to crush us and force us to give up The Dream.
The Republican Party opposes mandates that violate the Nuremburg Code, Article 6, Section 3, “No government can mandate or force medical treatment without individual consent.” Furthermore, there are no provisions for suspending constitutional rights via an emergency declaration by a governor or any other reason except by the authority of the legislative assembly (Article 1, Section 22, Oregon Constitution).
In addition, we oppose city councils who allow Antifa and other domestic terrorist organizations to continue to harass, vandalize, commit arson and harm others who oppose their anti-American tactics. And we oppose far left platform issues such as but not limited to: open borders, defunding police, men in women’s bath and locker rooms as well as sports, deniers of scientific fact that there are two genders — XX and XY — porn in school books, forced medical tyranny, forced acceptance of alternative lifestyles, forced masking, forced lockdowns, censorship, funneling taxpayer money to Ukraine and other countries with little accountability and continued attempts to disqualify Republican presidential candidate Donald J. Trump.
We extend an olive branch to Democrats and nonaffiliated voters to come to the table and work with us on issues that affect everyone in Deschutes County. Instead of pointing the finger at each other, labeling people with “ists” and “phobes,” let’s tackle the difficult issues facing public education, mental health, water, homelessness, open borders and the economy. Our Oregon Constitution gives us the ability to do so in Article 1, Section 1.
As long as people choose to be unregistered to vote or not vote in these elections for candidates that represent their values, we are no better than sheep. Those in power whose values don’t align with our founding documents will continue to use the mainstream media to spread fear porn and chaos. There will always be those with evil intentions who will force their will upon us. Now is the time to say STOP. We can all make a difference if we value and respect each other. It is time to listen. Respond with respect and grace. Obey the rule of law. And tell those who stir up the pot of hatred they are not welcome here anymore. The Deschutes Republican Party believes in The Dream. Do you?
