One dead after three-vehicle crash on Highway 97 in Jefferson County

A Madras man is dead after losing control and crashing into another vehicle on U.S. Highway 97 in Jefferson County on Sunday, Oregon State Police said. 

About at 9:39 p.m., OSP responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 97 near SW Glide Lane south of Madras. Enrique Santellano Reynoso, 53, of Madras, was killed in the collision, OSP said in a news release Tuesday. 

Reynoso was traveling north when his vehicle veered into the southbound lane, sideswiping another vehicle driven by Lupe Verbana Galicia, 23, of Warm Springs, before crashing head on with another vehicle traveling south and driven by Dustin Evan Ferren, 23, of Madras. 

Galicia was uninjured, but Ferren was flown to an area hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
