Charities encouraged to apply for Rotary Club Duck Race funds

A crowd watches as thousands of rubber ducks are dropped from the Galveston Avenue bridge for the Great Drake Park Duck Race in September.

Local nonprofits are encouraged to apply to the Greater Bend Rotary Club for funds raised from the annual Great Drake Park Duck Race. The event raises more than $90,000 split among four Rotary clubs. Much of it is distributed to nonprofits.

Applications to the Greater Bend Rotary Club from local nonprofits must be received by April 5. Three finalists will be selected to make a pitch at the April 11 Greater Bend Rotary Club noon meeting. The club will vote on the finalist for the 2023 proceeds.

The selected nonprofit is encouraged to help sell duck race tickets, promote the club and the duck race on its channels to its audience, attend kick-off events and promotional opportunities and the check presentations.

Selected nonprofits will also be required to attend a club meeting to share how the funds will benefit the organization. The club meets on Tuesdays at noon at Currents Restaurant at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes.
