Everclear brings 30th anniversary show to Bend

Everclear, led by Art Alexakis, front and center, will visit Midtown Ballroom on Saturday.

Everclear certainly has pumped out its share of hits over the past 30 years. The Portland-based pop-rock band is one of Oregon’s most successful music acts in that time.

There’s “Santa Monica,” of course, and “Everything to Everyone” and “I Will Buy You A New Life” and “Wonderful” and “Father of Mine,” each featuring Art Alexakis’ tuneful tales of tough times set to reliably chugging electric guitars. My favorite was always the punky “Heroin Girl,” which was the single right before they broke big. That song rips!

Alexakis is the guy who started the annual Summerland tour a decade ago, which features bands from alt-rock’s peak in the 1990s. Now, he has Everclear out on tour to celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary, with fellow ‘90s hit-makers Sponge along as openers. The tour stops at Bend’s Midtown Ballroom Saturday night.

Everclear: $30, 8:30 p.m. Saturday, doors open 7:30 p.m., Midtown Ballroom, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend, midtownballroom.com.
