John Mayall returns to Tower Theatre

Not even pneumonia can keep John Mayall from singing the blues. The founder of British blues rock band The Bluesbreakers took an extended break from the road last year due to the illness, missing (among other dates) the first Sisters Rhythm & Brews Festival, which he was slated to headline. But as Mayall told GO! Magazine back in 2016, “I love to work.” He returned to touring this year and also dropped “Nobody Told Me,” his fourth studio album in a solo-career renaissance since signing with label Forty Below. The album shows the bluesman has plenty left to say and play, with some help from plenty of rock’s heaviest hitters — Rush’s Alex Lifeson, Todd Rundgren, Joe Bonamassa and Stephen Van Zandt among them. Mayall will return to the Tower Theatre on Thursday, with Tommy Odetto once again opening.

John Mayall, with Tommy Odetto: 7 p.m. Thursday; $36 or $47 plus theatre preservation fee; Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St., Bend; towertheatre.org or 541-317-0700.
