December 22, 1935 – January 26, 2019

Wally was born in Portland, Oregon, to Harry Alburn Moore and Geraldine Elizabeth Scott Moore. Wally was the oldest of three sons. Thomas “Tom” Scott Moore (deceased), and Douglas “Doug” Clayton Moore. All three of whom were talented baseball players. Wally was all-state baseball catcher for all 4 years of high school. He also had the highest batting average for the City of Portland, Oregon. Wally attended Multnomah Grade School and Lincoln High School.

At that time, Military Service was mandatory, and Wally selected voluntarily for the draft to fulfill his obligation as quickly as possible. Most of his 2-year time was spent in Anchorage, Alaska, where he developed a love for Alaska. When he was in Alaska, he played baseball for the military team with some major leaguers. He then married his high school sweetheart, Ann Banton. He received a baseball scholarship to Lewis and Clark College and graduated in Business in 1961. While in college, he worked for Copeland Lumber and his immediate boss was his mother-in-law, Mary Larsen. Parr Lumber recruited him, and he started in January 1962, as Assistant Manager of the Cedar Hills Store. He then worked at Rockwood, Lake Oswego and Wankers Corner. Once he was at Wankers Corner, he was the first manager to sell over a million dollars in one month and eventually worked up to Vice President of the Corporation and Board of Directors.

Wally and Ann created three outstanding children, Marianne Elizabeth Moore (Action Employment Services, Inc., Portland, Oregon), Dr. Kathleen Rae Moore (Desert Orthopedics, Bend, Oregon), and Michael Scott Moore (Aloha, Oregon). He has a wonderful son-in-law, Dr Michael Gordon Ryan (Desert Orthopedics, Bend, Oregon), who also goes by Doc Ryan. They have two perfect grandchildren, Katie Elizabeth Ryan (Senior at CU, Boulder, Colorado) and Sean Michael Ryan (Freshman at University of Canada, Victoria).

Wally fulfilled his dream of building his own house, while working full-time. He would build the family home in northwest Portland, Oregon, after work and on weekends. He also was General Contractor of their vacation home in Sunriver, Oregon. Wally retired to Bend, Oregon, where he played golf, fished and had fun with his new best friends. He passed away peacefully on January 26, 2019 of kidney failure.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Partners In Care in Bend, https://www.partnersbend.org/. A celebration of life will be held in summer of 2019.
