The Portland Trail Blazers are acquiring guard Rodney Hood in a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday.
The Blazers will send Nik Stauskas, Wade Baldwin and second-round picks in 2021 and 2023 to Cleveland in exchange for Hood, per Wojnarowski. Both Stauskas and Baldwin are expiring contracts.
Hood is averaging 12.2 points on 42.7 percent from the floor and 36.2 percent from three-point range, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists this season.
The 26-year-old was acquired by the Cavaliers from the Utah Jazz at last year’s trade deadline. The 23rd pick of the 2014 draft by the Jazz spent the first three-plus years of his career in Utah.
Stauksas signed as a free agent with the Blazers last summer and appeared in 44 games with Portland, posting averages of 6.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in just over 15 minutes per game off the bench. He scored in double figures eight times, highlighted by a 24-point performance in the Blazers’ season-opening win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Baldwin, the No. 17 pick of the 2016 NBA draft by Memphis, signed a two-way contract with the Blazers in October of 2017 and earned a full-time roster spot late last season. The 23-year-old guard averaged 3.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 23 appearances with Portland.
The Blazers’ roster now sits at 14 players with the move.
