A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports (all times Pacific):
Monday
NBA basketball, Portland at Cleveland, 4 p.m. (NBC Sports NW): The Trail Blazers are on a midwinter tear, riding a three-game winning streak that includes the first two games of their current seven-game road trip. Guard Rodney Hood returns to Cleveland, where he played before being acquired by the Blazers in a Feb. 4 trade. Later this week, Portland makes stops at Boston, Toronto and Charlotte.
Wednesday
Prep boys basketball, Class 1A state tournament in Baker City, Trinity Lutheran vs. Triad, 6:30 p.m.: The OSAA state championship tournaments get underway, and Trinity Lutheran of Bend takes on Triad of Klamath Falls in a quarterfinal game at Baker High School. The No. 6 Saints and No. 3 Timberwolves are Mountain Valley League foes who split their two games during the regular season.
Thursday-Sunday
Outdoors, Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show in Redmond: In its 20th year, the four-day show brings to the Deschutes County fairgrounds an arena full of gear and fun activities for outdoor sports enthusiasts of all ages. Friday
College baseball, West Virginia at Oregon State, 5:35 p.m.: The reigning NCAA champion Beavers make their 2019 Goss Stadium debut with the opener of a three-game series against the Mountaineers. Saturday’s and Sunday’s games start at 1:35 and 1:05 p.m., respectively. Under interim head coach Pat Bailey, OSU got off to a fast start in season-opening contests in Surprise, Arizona.
Friday-Saturday
Prep alpine skiing, OSSA championships at Mt. Bachelor: Central Oregon’s downhillers close out the season with two days of racing, all on Bachelor’s Cliffhanger run. Slalom competition is scheduled for Friday, and giant slalom races are set for Saturday. Bend High is the reigning association champion in both the girls and boys divisions and will attempt to defend their crowns.
