Milwaukie officer shot — A spokesman for the Milwaukie Police Department says an officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury in a shooting near the Milwaukie Safeway late Saturday night. Police spokesman Brad Walther says the officer tried to stop a man who was walking. The man matched the description of an armed man reported in an earlier call. The officer tried to stop the man and deployed a stun gun. Moments later, the officer and the man exchanged shots two blocks away. Other officers found the suspect nearby hiding under a truck and trailer. They used a stun gun to take him into custody. Clackamas County is investigating.

Fatal truck crash — Two people, a driver and passenger, died when a delivery truck crashed northeast of Salem before 3 a.m. Saturday. Marion County emergency officials found the delivery truck on its side. The truck had struck a utility pole. Deputies say the driver failed to negotiate a curve as the truck was traveling west. The cause was not immediately determined. The driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were not immediately released because next of kin had not been notified.

Inmate suicide — A Linn County jail inmate died Thursday in an apparent suicide. Attempts to save Joseph William Hadley, 46, of Albany, were unsuccessful, according to the sheriff’s office, which didn’t say how Hadley died. He was found alone in his cell during a routine check around 11:25 p.m. Hadley had multiple open criminal cases in Linn County.
