Editor’s note: This show has been canceled due to low ticket sales, according to promoter 1988 Entertainment.
Bend, meet Ward Davis, the latest country songwriter-turned-singer. He will perform at the Domino Room on Thursday. The multi-instrumentalist spent 15 years in Nashville’s songwriting machine, cranking out material for artists such as David Adam Byrnes, Trace Adkins, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. The latter two recorded Ward’s “Unfair Weather Friend” for their 2015 duets album “Django and Jimmie,” which eventually led Ward to find his calling in the neo-outlaw country scene. That same year, he released his gritty debut album, “15 Years in a 10 Year Town” (a reference to his stay in Nashville), and last year he teamed with singer Cody Jinks to co-write three songs on Jinks’ “Lifers” album. A subsequent tour with Jinks and an EP, “Asunder,” have continued Ward’s steady rise to outlaw stardom.
