Race for kids Sunday in Bend

The Kids’ Triathlon, an introductory race for ages 4 to 15 presented by the Bend Park & Recreation District, is set for Sunday at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center and Juniper Park in Bend.
The nontimed event includes swimming, biking and running and will emphasize fun in a safe and encouraging environment. Swimming will be held in the center’s supervised pool; biking and running courses will be located in Juniper Park.
Age groups will include 4 to 6 years old (25-yard swim, 1⁄3-mile bike, 400-yard run); 7-9 (50-yard swim, 1-mile bike, 800-yard run); 10-12 (100-yard swim, 1.5-mile bike, 1-mile run); and 13-15 (200-yard swim, 2-mile bike, 1.5-mile run).
Participants are encouraged to preregister by noon Saturday. Registration is available online at bendparksandrec.org; in person at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center, The Pavilion or the park district office at Riverbend Park; or by calling 541-389-7275. Entry fee is $25 for park district residents, $30 otherwise, and includes an event T-shirt.
The Kids’ Triathlon is limited to 100 participants. Day-of-race registration will be held on a space-available basis at the event site from 8 to 9 a.m.
Following a mandatory meeting of all participants at 9 a.m., racing in stages begins at 9:30 a.m.
