The Bend Elks got off to a winning start in the second half of the West Coast League season.
John Arndorfer’s two-run double in the seventh inning put Bend ahead to stay in the Elks’ 6-4 victory over Walla Walla in the opening game of a three-game series Monday night at Vince Genna Stadium.
The Elks scored two runs in the sixth to make it 3-3, the tying run scoring on a single by Tristen Alvarez. The Sweets, who swept three games from Bend in Walla Walla last month, went ahead with a run in the top of the seventh, but Arndorfer’s double in the home half — his third hit of the game — gave the Elks the lead. Ty Holmstrom followed with a sacrifice fly for the game’s final run.
Grant Crosby was the winning pitcher with two innings of relief, and Sam Boone pitched two scoreless innings for his second save.
