Central Oregon’s only cable broadband provider says it has doubled its top download speed to 600 megabits per second.
BendBroadband, operated by TDS Telecom, launched the faster service Monday in Bend and surrounding areas, including Black Butte, Culver, La Pine, Madras, Powell Butte, Prineville, Redmond, Sisters, Sunriver and Terrebonne, spokeswoman Cheryl McCollum said. Internet-only service is being sold for $99.99, compared with $79.99 for the second-fastest download speed, 300 megabits per second. The advertised rates are one-year promotional offers.
BendBroadband increased the top download speed after completing a multimillion-dollar network upgrade, which was supposed to alleviate slow, unreliable service, McCollum said. TDS has already launched the 600 megabits-per-second service at subsidiaries serving markets in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Nevada.
