Michigan QB Speight transferring to UCLA — Wilton Speight, a former Michigan starting quarterback, will play at UCLA this season as a fifth-year graduate transfer. He confirmed the move via his Instagram account and he will be eligible immediately. He also considered Wyoming. Speight opted to leave Michigan shortly after the 2017 campaign came to a close, a season shortened after a vertebrae injury he suffered during the fourth game of the year at Purdue.

49ers’ Foster charged in assault against girlfriend — San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster has been charged with felony domestic violence after being accused of dragging his girlfriend and punching her in the head, leaving her with a ruptured eardrum, authorities said. The Santa Clara County district attorney charged Foster on Thursday, when he was also arraigned in San Jose. A judge ordered him not to have any contact with his girlfriend. Foster was accompanied to court by 49ers teammate Richard Sherman. He did not enter a plea and was released after posting $75,000 bail. Foster was also charged with felony possession of an assault weapon and misdemeanor possession of a high-capacity magazine. He faces up to 11 years in prison.

OSU’s Rutschman to play for Team USA — Oregon State sophomore catcher/infielder Adley Rutschman has accepted an invitation to compete for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. A native of Sherwood, Rutschman will join a long list of Oregon State players who have donned the red, white and blue. He will be the 14th different Beaver to play for Team USA since 2005, a list that includes current infielders Nick Madrigal and Cadyn Grenier.
