BLACK BUTTE RANCH — Two teams finished atop the open division’s stroke play leader board after the first day of the Oregon Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Black Butte Ranch’s Big Meadow course Saturday.

Jim Dunlap of Tigard and Jay Poletiek of Portland teamed up for a 9-under-par 63, a score matched by Alex Harding of Portland and Travis Johnsen of Wilsonville.

Each player in the two-player teams plays his or her own ball, and the lowest score between the two on each hole is the score for the team. The tournament transitions to match play Sunday and will continue until Tuesday’s championship round.

Bend’s Clare Langford and Ryan DeCastilhos carded a 6-under 66 to tie for fourth, along with Redmond’s Andrew Fitch, who is playing with Portland’s Tony Kordosky. Bend’s Dylan Cramer and Taylor Giacomini tied for 10th with a 68.

In the women’s division, Oregon City’s Kailin Downs, a graduate of Bend’s Mountain View High, and Bend’s Amy Andersen took first in the eight-team field with a 68, while Nettie Morrison and Rachelle Ryan, both of Bend, finished fifth with a 78.

In the senior men’s division, two local teams are tied for third at 68: Redmond’s Mark Crose and Bend’s Don Orrell, and Sunriver’s Greg Sollers and Bend’s Charley Griswold. Stein Swenson and Carlton Watson, both of Bend and the defending division champs, were tied for ninth with a 70. The top 16 of 20 teams qualified for match play.
