Housing Works, the public housing authority for Central Oregon, on Thursday plans a grand opening of its rental housing project in Redmond.

Cook Crossing, developed for low-income seniors 55 and over, provides 48 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Built by R&H Construction and designed by BLRB Architects, the property is managed by Epic Property Management. The new Redmond Mosaic Medical Clinic will be located on the ground floor. Mosaic is expected to occupy its new facility, more than double the size of its clinic, in September.

The apartments in the building are leased. The waiting list is closed until the first-year lease terms are up, according to Epic. To qualify, a single applicant had to earn no more than 50 percent of 2017 area median income, $22,350, or for a couple, $25,550, according to Oregon Housing and Community Services.

City, county and state representatives are expected to be on hand when the building on Veterans Way next to Lowe’s is opened at a 10 a.m. ceremony.

The building is named for Cyndy Cook, who retired in 2013 after 30 years as executive director of Housing Works.
