Police seek help in finding abuse suspect
Central Oregon law enforcement officers are seeking a domestic violence suspect who allegedly ran from an incident with a woman Tuesday at the Sleep Inn & Suites on NW Sixth Street in Redmond.
Redmond Police received a report of a man and woman in a fight involving a knife at the hotel Tuesday, according to a release from Sgt. Eric Beckwith. Before police arrived, the suspect, Ivan Blu Harmon, 23, of the Redmond area, ran from the scene with a reported knife wound to his neck. In addition to probable cause to arrest Harmon for the alleged domestic violence attack, Deschutes County previously issued warrants for his arrest, according to the release.
Police stated that Harmon allegedly attacked his female partner, choking “her severely and pulling out large clumps of her hair.” The woman then pulled a pocket knife from Harmon’s pocket and used it to end the attack, police said.
But even after he was cut, Harmon allegedly attempted to keep the victim from leaving the hotel room, according to witness reports police received.
Police found the woman was suffering from other injuries from alleged attacks by Harmon over the past few months, the release said.
A Bureau of Land Management ranger and his K-9 partner Kahr tracked Harmon to the area of Aspen Villa Apartments on NW Canal Boulevard, then lost the trail.
Anyone with information about Harmon’s whereabouts should call the Redmond Police Department at 541-504-3400, or Deschutes County nonemergency dispatch at 541-693-6911. Harmon is described as a white male, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He also has a large tattoo on his chest.
